Wednesday = Staff Meeting

Staff Meeting.

It sounds so formal.  So grown-up.  So boring.  So not what you would expect from The Gathering.  But, believe it or not, every Wednesday our team gets together for a weekly meeting.  There’s some trappings of formality: conference room, whiteboard (I LOVE whiteboards), big table and leather chairs (pretty sure they’re fake).  But we keep it pretty chill.  Honestly, whenever you put Nick, Brett, Pete, Whitney, Natalie and myself in a room for an hour and a half it ends up being pretty entertaining.  We have a good time.

Here’s what I’ve noticed over the years: the more a team laughs together, the more a team gets done in meetings.  Meetings are usually dull because no one trusts anyone else enough to be honest.  But when that trust is there, meetings take on a whole new dimension.  You can debate ideas.  You can argue.  You can discuss.  I never thought I would say it, but meetings can actually be a good time!

Random thoughts today, I know.  But I’m just overwhelmed with gratitude that I get to serve with this team.
