These are just a few of the images from what was a truly unreal night in College Park. From the time I walked on campus yesterday afternoon, I had a strong sense that God wanted to do something pretty unbelievable last night. Before the night started, I got some time to pray with the student leadership team at UMD and I think we all felt that same sense of expectation. And as students started to pack into Nyumburu, the buzz only grew.
And, wow, God did not disappoint!! He never does; but it was awesome to experience His faithfulness one more time last night. I loved hearing that room erupt in worship; you guys were loud! I loved being able to share the simple story of grace and restoration that is the prodigal son. But what I really loved was the four students who stood in front of the room at the end of the night sharing the story of what God had done in their lives. Anyone who doubts that Jesus is changing people today should have been in that room last night. Amazing stories of an amazing God and His heart to reach all of us.
And then came baptisms out in front of Nyumburu. Just awesome. Cheering. Celebrating. Laughing.
Last night was one of those times when you get a taste of what the church should be – passionate, alive, worshipping, loving, celebrating and caring. If you were there, I hope you are as encouraged today as I am. If you missed it, no worries. God hasn’t changed a bit since last night and we all have next week to look forward to on our campuses.
