One of the highlights of my weekly is Sundays from 12-2. It’s our staff Bible Study time. We do it for a lot of reasons but for me it is the best possible way to set the tone for a week of ministry. I love the statement it makes in each of our lives – before we do anything else for the week, we stop to study God’s Word and pray together. It just seems like it’s the right spiritual foundation for the week.
We’re currently going through Matthew’s Gospel and today we’re landing on “The Lord’s Prayer.” We’re going to spend all of our time just praying through those verses – not just praying the words but using them as a guide for an extended period of prayer.
If you’ve never done that, I highly recommend it:
‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’
Notice that Our Lord Jesus does this again for us in extended Prayer to in John 17. It is what I read and meditate on when the going in ministry, and discipleship and persecition and the Walk gets really tough . HIS WORDS ARE ETERNAL, and so is HIS prayer for US. Sometimes we do get more than we can handle becuase it always pushes us to cleave to our Master raboni Jesus Christ of Nazareth. When He is done in that area at the time that we look up and take a looksee It Brings Glory to God and shows that He is The ONe and only Big and enormous Living God.His Love is reigning down. I can hear it in His voice and His Truth. Healing REIGN, and arms wide open. Forevermore, never to be alone again-Heart pounding Faith.
in Christ Alone,
s.K.
